B.j. "Quicksand" Bland is a fighter from New Zealand. He is married to Alasha Bland since the 10th of march 2017. Since 2017 he is part of the City Kickboxing MMA team in Auckland where he relocated to be able to train there exclusively. At City Kickboxing he trains with the known UFC fighters Dan Hooker, Kai Kara France, Shane Young, Brad Ridell and Israel Adesanya under their head coach Eugene Bareman.
Bland struggled to get high ranked opponents in the Australian MMA circuit to fight him as he is well known to be a potentially difficult matchup. The fight against Callan Potter (who is currently signed with the UFC) on the 8th of December 2018 got him some notoriety as the fight had to be rescheduled after the event that initially hosted the fight Caged Series 1 got canceled. The fight got rescheduled to Eternal MMA 40 and it was a hard fought war that ended in a split decision loss for Bland.
Bland won his fight at Eternal MMA 48 against Abel Brites via unanimous decision. He also won at Eternal MMA 50 against Ian Blade via guillotine choke.
